GDC Bani Hosts Awareness Week on Constitution and Citizens’ Rights

BANI, FEBRUARY 25:-The Department of Political Science at Government Degree College (GDC) Bani organized an awareness week on citizens’ rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution. This initiative was part of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption.The program aimed to engage students in understanding the significance of constitutional provisions and the role of citizens in shaping a democratic society while exercising their rights. It began with a detailed lecture by Dr. Jahnu Kumar Heer, Head of the Political Science Department, on fundamental rights, fundamental duties, and the message of the Indian Constitution as reflected in its Preamble.

He emphasized the principles of social justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, highlighting the Constitution’s deep impact on daily life and the necessity of knowing one’s rights for legal, social, and political awareness.

The lecture was delivered under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Manohar Lal, Principal of the College, who expressed his support for such initiatives. He stressed the importance of understanding constitutional values and how students can contribute to nation-building, develop scientific and critical thinking, and enhance leadership and decision-making skills.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, alongside the presence of teaching and non-teaching staff. It concluded with a pledge to uphold the ideals of the Preamble and follow constitutional values.

The event was successfully conducted with the support of Prof. Naseeb Kumar Bhagat, Prof. Akash Zutshi, Prof. Nuratuel Islam, Sajad Hussain, Anil Singh, Farooq Ahmad Kumar, and Mehnaz Rafiq.
