Kathua, June 3, 2025 —Around 40 employees of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL) from Kathua and surrounding areas have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Kathua, requesting the cancellation of their transfer orders to LIS Polavaram-3179 project site in Andhra Pradesh. In the memorandum, submitted through the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, the employees highlighted their concerns over the sudden transfer orders issued by the company for the year 2025. They emphasized that they have been engaged in various projects in Jammu & Kashmir since 2022 and have been drawing a monthly salary ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹40,000.The employees stressed that their transfer to Andhra Pradesh would cause severe financial, social, and family difficulties. They also raised concerns about the lack of proper accommodation and the increased cost of living in the new location. The memorandum points out that the transfer orders were issued unilaterally and appear discriminatory, particularly as they involve displacing local workers and potentially impacting local employment in the Jammu & Kashmir region. The employees requested the Deputy Commissioner to kindly intervene in the matter and direct the company authorities to cancel or revise the said transfer orders, allowing them to continue working within Jammu & Kashmir. The memorandum was submitted through Ex-MLA Prem Lal Dogra and District President Rural (Bani Basoli) Madan Lal Thakur of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. The employees expressed their gratitude to the authorities for considering their genuine concerns and hoped for a prompt resolution.
