KATHUA, 25 NOVEMBER :- A four-day cricket tournament, the Bani Premier League, commenced today at the Government Degree College Bani ground. The event has been organized by Bharat Sports Club with the objective of engaging youth in sports and steering them away from drug abuse. The tournament is being held with the support of National Hydro Project Corporation (NHPC), Sewa-II Power Station Mashka.

The tournament was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Principal, GDC Bani, and Surinder Raina, Station House Officer (SHO) Bani. In their address, the chief guests said that organizing such sporting events in remote and mountainous regions not only provides youth with a platform to showcase their talent but also plays a crucial role in keeping them away from the menace of drugs. They appreciated the relentless efforts of Bharat Sports Club, noting that successfully organizing this tournament for the past 15 years despite limited resources is truly commendable. They added that sports encourage youth to stay engaged in healthy and constructive activities.

Dalip Kumar Tandon, General Secretary of Bharat Sports Club, informed that 12 teams are participating in this tournament, and the matches will continue for four days. He further added that this is the first edition of the Bani Premier League, whereas previously the tournament had been held for the past 15 years under the name Freedom Cup. This year, it has been introduced with a new identity and a fresh format.—

Match Summary – Day 1Match 1: Rising Star Challa vs Rising Star GudduRising Star Guddu scored 74 runs for 7 wickets in 10 overs. In response, Rising Star Challa successfully chased the target in 8.4 overs, securing the first win of the tournament.Match 2: Royal Challengers Dugan vs Spartan StrikersRoyal Challengers Dugan set a target of 78 runs. Spartan Strikers managed 74 runs, falling short by just 4 runs, giving Dugan a thrilling victory.Match 3: Golden Gladiators vs Sangam Hariprayag SarthaliGolden Gladiators posted 78 runs in 10 overs. In reply, the Sangam Hariprayag Sarthali team was bowled out in 9.4 overs, handing Golden Gladiators a solid win.

Matches Scheduled for Day 2, Three exciting matches are lined up for the second day of the tournament, promising to offer even more competitive cricket and enthusiastic participation.
