BANI, FEBRUARY 22: Under its civic outreach initiative Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army, under the aegis of the Rising Star Corps, organised a free medical camp at Dhaggar village in the Bani region of Kathua district, Jammu & Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camp was conducted by troops of 7 Sikh Light Infantry with the objective of addressing the pressing healthcare needs of residents living in the remote and hilly belt, where access to adequate medical facilities remains limited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the camp, Army doctors and nursing assistants provided free medical consultations, basic health check-ups, and essential medicines to villagers from Dhaggar, Dullangal, Dhamman, Bari, Rind and adjoining areas.A medical team comprising doctors and civil nurses from Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bani also extended support to ensure comprehensive healthcare coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 241 beneficiaries, including 65 men, 127 women and 49 children, availed themselves of the services during the camp.The initiative witnessed an overwhelming response from the local population. Residents highlighted the challenges posed by difficult terrain and inadequate medical infrastructure in the region, stating that such outreach programmes significantly ease their hardships by bringing healthcare services closer to their doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to ANI, local residents and former Sarpanch Amir Chand said that medical facilities are scarce in the far-flung area, which lies at the extreme end of Kathua district, beyond which another district begins.\u201cIn this remote and hilly region, very limited medical facilities are available to the people. This is the last corner of Kathua district, and accessing proper healthcare is often difficult. We are grateful to the Indian Army for organising this medical camp and providing much-needed treatment to the villagers. We request that in the coming time, a large-scale medical camp be organised here to further support the people of this area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
