Winter Vacation in J&K Extended Till March 6, Schools to Reopen on March 7

BANI, FEBRUARY 28:- The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has officially extended the winter vacation for all government and private schools up to the higher secondary level in Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division.

As per the latest government order (No. 168-JK (Edu) of 2025), the schools, which were originally scheduled to reopen on March 1, will now reopen on March 7, 2025.The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing cold weather conditions in the region. The order, issued by Shantmanu, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), emphasizes that the extension applies to all schools in the affected regions.

Copies of the order have been circulated to key officials, including the Chief Minister’s Office, Director General of Police, Lieutenant Governor’s Office, and other relevant authorities. The Director School Education Jammu/Kashmir and the Director of Information & Public Relations have been instructed to ensure wide publicity of the order.This extension aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students amid the harsh winter conditions. Parents and students are advised to follow updates from the School Education Department for any further changes.
