LOHAI-MALHAR, JANUARY 02:- The Primary Health Center (PHC) of Lohai-Malhar, catering to thousands of residents, is in a state of utter neglect, causing immense hardship for both patients and medical staff. With a leaking roof, lack of basic facilities, and the absence of an MBBS doctor, the public is deprived of quality healthcare services. Despite treating thousands of patients every month, the four-room facility is struggling due to severe infrastructural and resource deficiencies. The region’s only health center has turned into a place of distress rather than healing. The lack of essential medical facilities, staff shortages, and a deteriorating building have left patients in a helpless condition.

Local social activist, Mohammad Ilyas has expressed deep concern over the hospital’s worsening condition, urging the government and health department to take immediate action for its renovation and the provision of necessary medical facilities. He stated, “During rainfall, the hospital’s roof leaks, making it extremely difficult for patients. Our area is already remote, and this is the only health facility we have, yet it is in a pathetic state. Due to poor conditions, people are forced to seek treatment elsewhere, wasting both time and money, and in emergencies, this can lead to dire consequences.”Ilyas further demanded that the government should immediately repair the hospital’s roof, appoint an MBBS doctor and additional medical staff, provide modern healthcare facilities, and expedite the construction of a new hospital building.

However, The Block Medical Officer told Bani Update News that a proposal for a new hospital building has already been submitted, but construction has not yet begun. “Until the new building is constructed, it is not feasible to renovate the existing hospital or improve its facilities,” he said.

Meanwhile, local residents have appealed to the government to urgently address this issue and ensure that every citizen has access to essential healthcare facilities.
