BANI, MARCH 07 :- The bodies of three civilians, including a teenager, who went missing while on their way to attend a wedding, were found in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday. The bodies were spotted by security forces using drones at a waterfall in the higher reaches. Efforts are underway to retrieve the bodies, officials said, adding that the cause of death will only be confirmed after a postmortem.

According to police sources, the deceased have been identified as Yogesh (32), Darshan (40), and Varun (14), who were cousins. Their bodies were found in a stream flowing through the area. However, the exact cause of death remains unclear, as the post-mortem examination is yet to be conducted.

Reports indicate that the three were part of a wedding procession traveling from Chou village to Malhar on Thursday. As the procession reached the forests of Surag and Marheen they lost contact with the rest of the wedding party. When they failed to return after several hours, family members and other attendees alerted the police.

Following their disappearance, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Indian Army launched an extensive search operation in the area. Given previous reports of militant activity in the region, security forces initially suspected that the trio might have been abducted.

After nearly 70 hours of intensive search efforts, their bodies were finally discovered in a stream. The incident has left locals in deep distress, raising concerns about safety in the region.

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of their deaths. Meanwhile, security measures in the area have been heightened to prevent any further incidents.
