Social Welfare Department Organizes 2-Day Workshop on “Empowering Women to Speak Out Against Harassment”

Kathua, March 20, 2025 – The Social Welfare Department Kathua, under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), successfully organized a 2-day workshop on “Empowering Women to Speak Out Against Harassment” in collaboration with Govt. Degree College for Women, Kathua. The workshop took place from 19th March 2025 to 20th March 2025, aiming to raise awareness and empower women to speak out against harassment.

The second day, also the culmination day of the workshop, was held in the auditorium of GDC for Women, Kathua. The program commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Rachna, Associate Professor at GDC for Women, Kathua. Dr. Rachna extended a warm welcome to all the staff, chief guest, and the students who participated in the program.

The Chief Guest for the event, Advocate Prakriti, delivered an insightful speech on women’s rights, legal acts, and policies designed to protect women and promote their well-being. Her address provided valuable knowledge to the participants on the laws and frameworks in place to combat harassment and support women’s empowerment.

The event also included a Saraswati Vandana and several cultural performances by the students of the college, adding a vibrant and festive touch to the program.

As part of the workshop’s culmination, the winners of the Poster Making Competition on “Empowering Women to Speak Out Against Harassment” were felicitated. The winners were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, with certificates of participation given to all participants. These posters showcased the creative expressions of students on women empowerment and the importance of speaking out against harassment.

The event concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Principal of GDC for Women, and Convener of IQAC, with mementos in recognition of their support and contribution to the success of the event. The Social Welfare Department and Govt. Degree College for Women, Kathua expressed their gratitude to all those who participated and contributed to making the workshop a significant step towards empowering women and raising awareness about harassment.
