Potential Entrepreneurship Mela organised under Mission YUVA at GDC Kathua

Kathua, June 14: A Potential Entrepreneurship Mela under the flagship initiative Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan) was organized today at the Auditorium of Government Degree College, Kathua, with the objective of promoting self-employment and entrepreneurial opportunities among youth.

The programme was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Rakesh Minhas, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from aspiring entrepreneurs, beneficiaries, and officials of concerned departments.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner urged the youth to actively avail the benefits of various Government schemes being implemented under Mission YUVA. He emphasized the importance of self-employment in shaping a progressive and self-reliant society. He also informed that a dedicated Help Desk has been established at the office of the Assistant Director Employment, operational during office hours, along with a YUVA Business helpline 1800-180-4969 to assist information seekers and applicants.

The event featured motivational testimonials by successful beneficiaries. Neha Choudhary, a professional makeup artist, expressed gratitude to the Government and Employment Department for extending support under Mission YUVA, which enabled her to secure a loan of ₹20 lakh to set up her beauty parlour. Similarly, Jyoti Sharma from Kharote appreciated the support she received in getting her Tejaswani Scheme loan approved.

An interactive session was also held to familiarize stakeholders with the mission’s goal of equipping youth with essential skills and an entrepreneurial mindset to create sustainable livelihood opportunities. The initiative also encourages innovation and provides handholding support to help young entrepreneurs establish their ventures.

Earlier, Assistant Director Employment Piyusha Khajuria gave a detailed briefing on the objectives of Mission YUVA and the process of the Potential Entrepreneurship Mela. She informed that 150 loan applications have been received so far and are currently being processed for further action.

On the occasion, informational stalls were set up by various departments to showcase schemes related to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.

The programme was attended by General Manager DIC Mushtaq Choudhary ,and other concerned officers.
