BANI, JANUARY 30:- The famous Sewa River in the Bani sub-division is becoming increasingly polluted due to improper waste disposal. With no proper sanitation system in place, people are dumping garbage and plastic directly into the river, contaminating the water and diminishing its natural beauty. This pollution is not only an environmental concern but also poses a health risk to local residents.
Importance of Sewa River:- The Sewa River is a lifeline for thousands of residents, providing drinking water and irrigation for crops. Additionally, over two dozen traditional water mills (gharats) rely on this river for their functioning. However, due to the increasing pollution, the water is no longer safe for consumption.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bani told Bani Update News that since Bani has not been granted the status of a municipal committee, sanitation responsibilities fall under the Rural Development Department. Although sanitation workers are regularly collecting garbage, but many people continue to dump waste into the Sewa river, worsening the situation. The SDM urged residents to act responsibly and avoid polluting the river.

Demands from Trade Association and Former Sarpanch:- Mukesh Sondhi, President of the Bani Trade Association, has demanded the establishment of a dumping yard where people can dispose of their waste properly. He also urged the Block Development Officer (BDO) to conduct awareness meetings to educate locals about cleanliness and hygiene.
Former Sarpanch Gatti Sushil Kumar emphasized the urgent need to grant Bani the status of a municipal committee. Until that happens, he suggested that the administration form a dedicated committee to oversee cleanliness efforts in the area.
Appeal to Local ResidentsBoth the administration and local organizations have appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness in and around the Seva River. If proper waste management measures are not implemented soon, the river’s beauty and its role as a vital water source could be at serious risk.
