GDC Kunjwani, INTACH Jammu & JK BirdLife Organize Heritage Drive

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 11:– GDC Kunjwani, in collaboration with INTACH Jammu and JK BirdLife, organized a Heritage Drive Walk to Gharana Wetland, BOP Octroi Suchetgarh, and Erstwhile Railway Station R.S. Pura. The event, supported by the NSS Unit and Department of Environmental Sciences, aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and heritage preservation.

The drive was flagged off by Prof. (Dr.) Manisha Kohli, Principal, GDC Kunjwani, in the presence of dignitaries including Former DG Tourism Sh. Salim Baig, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sh. Hemant Sharma, IFS Dr. C.M. Seth, KAS officers, and Prof. Parmil Kumar from the University of Jammu.

At Gharana Wetland, Dr. C.M. Seth discussed wetland conservation and migratory bird protection, while Prof. Parmil Kumar elaborated on bird species and their migration patterns.

The students then visited BOP Octroi at Suchetgarh, where historian Sh. Sarishti Mohan Saini spoke about the strategic significance of the border post and the historic Ragunath Mandir Suchetgarh.

The tour concluded at Erstwhile Railway Station R.S. Pura, where students learned about its historical importance.

This initiative successfully instilled awareness about ecological conservation and Jammu’s rich heritage, fostering a sense of responsibility among students.
