Kathua, March 31: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has successfully completed slope stabilization work at Sukha Nala along the Bani–Basohli road, providing long-awaited relief to commuters in the region.
During the monsoon season, landslides and debris from Sukha Nala frequently disrupted traffic, often blocking the road for hours and affecting connectivity between Bani, Basohli, and Bhaderwah.
Addressing this persistent issue, the 69 RCC unit of BRO has executed the stabilization project at an estimated cost of ₹13 crore.
As part of the project, retaining walls and specialized protective barriers have been constructed to prevent landslides and stop debris from spilling onto the roadway. This is expected to ensure smoother and safer vehicular movement, even during heavy rains.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major relief—especially for patients and travelers who previously faced delays due to frequent road blockages. The improved route will also enhance connectivity with the Jammu–Pathankot National Highway, thereby supporting trade, tourism, and emergency services.

Officials further stated that while plans for a new bridge are also in the pipeline, the slope stabilization work was a crucial step in securing the road ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
