BANI, JULY 31:- Continuous heavy rainfall in the Bani sub-division of Kathua district has severely disrupted normal life, with most rural roads connecting Bani to nearby areas blocked due to landslides and debris. Despite this, all government and private schools in the region remain open today.

SDM Sandeep Kumar Sharma told the bani update news. confirmed that no official order has been issued to close the schools, and they will continue to operate as usual. He added that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and will take necessary action if required.

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kathua also stated that any decision regarding school closures depends on recommendations from the local administration. “The situation is being observed carefully, but so far, no orders have been issued to shut down schools,” he said.

A major concern lies in the fact that many students from remote and hilly areas of Bani sub-division are compelled to traverse dangerous, slippery, and steep paths to reach their schools. With rivers and streams in spate and several small bridges damaged, walking to school has become increasingly hazardous.

Local residents are voicing strong concerns over student safety. “It’s heart-wrenching to watch little children carrying school bags trying to cross overflowing streams and landslide-prone trails,” said a worried parent.People are urging the administration to reconsider its decision, especially for upper and remote areas, and issue special instructions to ensure the safety of school-going children. As of now, there is no holiday declared, and all schools remain open, though authorities have assured that appropriate action will be taken if the situation worsens.

However, MLA Bani Dr. Rameshwar Singh while talking to Bani Update News said, Safety of children should be our top priority. I urge the administration to keep a strict and serious eye on the situation.

All roads blocked due to landslides should be cleared on priority basis so that students and general public can travel safely. If the weather conditions worsen, the administration should take immediate steps to temporarily suspend school activities to ensure the safety of children.
