BANI, JANUARY 10:- Some time ago, the Bani Update web news portal highlighted the serious shortage of ambulance services in the remote and hilly region of Bani Distt Kathua. The report clearly pointed out that nearly 70,000 people were dependent on only one old 108 ambulance, which was proving completely insufficient for emergencies in the area. The issue raised serious concerns about patient safety and timely medical care. Following the publication of the news, the matter received the attention of the Health Department and District Administration, who took immediate steps to address the problem. As a result, a new ambulance has now been provided to Bani, bringing much-needed relief and smiles to the faces of local residents. The arrival of the new ambulance was officially shared on social media by the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bani. For many years, Bani had only one ageing 108 ambulance to handle road accidents, serious illnesses and medical emergencies in this difficult terrain. Whenever the ambulance was out with a critical patient, there was no backup vehicle available, often putting other patients’ lives at risk.

Earlier, Bani MLA Dr. Rameshwar Singh had assured the people that the issue would be resolved at the earliest. He had taken up the matter with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and demanded additional ambulances for Bani and Lohai Malhar.Speaking on the issue, Dr. Rameshwar Singh said,“I raised this issue with the National Rural Health Mission and demanded one ambulance each for Bani and Lohai Malhar. The Health Department assured me that remote areas like Bani would be given priority. I will also raise this matter with the Health Minister during the Assembly session.

”Earlier, Kajal Rajput had also raised strong concern through the media, stating, “The lives of 70,000 people depend on just one old ambulance. This situation is unacceptable. Immediate steps were needed, otherwise a major tragedy could have occurred.

”Former MLA and BJP leader Jeewan Lal had also expressed concern over the lack of emergency medical facilities in remote areas. He said that the absence of a backup ambulance could lead to loss of lives and stressed that both the Central Government and the UT Government must ensure proper healthcare facilities in such regions.

Earlier, BMO Bani Dr. Devraj had informed that the lack of a second ambulance was the biggest challenge for the health department in Bani. He had said that repeated requests were sent to higher authorities, as saving lives remained the top priority.

Now, with the long-pending demand finally fulfilled, the people of Bani have welcomed the new ambulance as a major relief. Locals have appreciated the role of the media in highlighting the issue and ensuring timely action by the authorities.
