Kathua, February 06:- –The District Administration of Kathua has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the alleged suicide of Makhan Din, son of Murid, resident of Billawar. The order was issued by Dr. Rakesh Minhas (IAS), District Magistrate, Kathua, appointing Anil Kumar (JKAS), Tehsildar Lohai Malhar, as the Inquiry Magistrate.
Suicide Video Surfaces, Allegations Against Police
Before taking his own life, Makhan Din reportedly recorded a video, in which he accused the police of harassing him over alleged links with militants. In the video, he claimed that he was being unjustly targeted and mentally tortured by law enforcement officials. The emergence of this video has raised serious concerns, prompting the administration to initiate a thorough investigation.
Objective of the Inquiry
The magisterial inquiry aims to ascertain the actual cause of death and verify the allegations made by the deceased. The appointed inquiry officer has been directed to record statements from all relevant persons and follow all necessary legal procedures to ensure a fair investigation.
Report to be Submitted in Five Days
The District Magistrate has instructed the inquiry officer to submit a detailed report within five days. Based on the findings, further action will be taken against those found responsible.
Senior Officials Notified
Copies of the order have been sent to the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Billawar, ensuring that senior officials are aware of the seriousness of the matter.
This case has sparked public outrage, with many demanding a transparent investigation and strict action if the allegations against the police are proven true. The findings of the magisterial inquiry will be crucial in determining the truth behind Makhan Din’s tragic death.
