BANI, JANUARY 23 :- Jammu Kashmir Police organised awareness programme on new criminal laws at Police Station Bani. The awareness camp was attended by various stakeholders including PRI members, prominent citizens and other officials.

SHO Police Station Bani highlighted the role and significance of new criminal laws. The interactive session gave the participants an opportunity to seek clarifications on various legal provisions and voice their queries. The programme was aimed at educating people about the three updated criminal laws: Indian New Code, Indian Civil Defence Code and Indian Evidence Act. The programme included interactive discussions to enhance practical knowledge of the laws.

The new criminal laws that will come into effect on July 1, 2024 will reform the Indian criminal justice system. They aim to revamp and replace old colonial laws, introduce victim-centric approach, national security and digital/electronic evidence review.

J&K Police has shown its commitment to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community through such initiatives. By organising awareness camps and interactive sessions, the police aim to ensure that the public is well informed and actively involved in building a safer and more harmonious society.

Similar awareness programmes, including conferences and workshops, have been organised across India to create awareness among citizens about the key features of the new laws.
