BANI, FEBRUARY 01: The demand to restore Bani Bhaderwah Road for smooth movement of traffic is gaining momentum. The residents of the area have expressed disappointment over the dilapidated condition of the road, which is causing severe difficulties to the traveler’s. They have urged the government and the administration to immediately restore the road for vehicular traffic so as to ensure its rehabilitation and better connectivity for the area.
However, it should be noted that the Bani Bhaderwah Road has been closed for the last two months due to snowfall, due to which both drivers and passengers are facing a lot of difficulties. Although the snow has been cleared for two kilometers near Chatargala, the road is still closed due to the remaining snow on the Chatargala Pass. This closure has had a negative impact on the local economy and tourism. The road block is not only causing trouble for the locals but is also adversely affecting trade and tourism.
According to reports, both Bani and Bhaderwah are known for their natural beauty, but the blocked road has significantly reduced tourist traffic, which has resulted in a loss to the local economy. Moreover, business owners and transporters are facing difficulties in transporting goods due to the dilapidated condition of the road.
Residents of the Bani area, Javed Ahmed, Muhammad Shamim, Shabbir Ahmed have appealed to the authorities to prioritize the repair and rehabilitation of the road. They have warned that if immediate action is not taken, they will be forced to protest in favor of their demands.
However, according to the authorities, plans are being made to repair and rehabilitate the Bani Bhaderwah road, and work is expected to start soon. However, the locals insist that they will not be satisfied with mere verbal assurances and will continue their demand until the rehabilitation work begins.
BRO official SK Barrier told Bani Update News that the Bani-Bhaderwah road will be reopened for traffic within a week. However, some areas are facing difficulties in recovery due to heavy snowfall.
